The Paa-Ko Ridge Golf Club is a 27-hole public golf course on the east side of the Sandia Mountains.
This mountain course has elevations ranging from 6,500 to 7,000 feet and the layout features landing areas and greens separated by arroyos, native vegetation, and rock outcroppings. It's surrounded by the mountainous terrain and vegetation of the New Mexico high desert. Each hole on Paa-Ko Ridge has five sets of tees allowing play from 5,702 to 7,562 yards, and many of the holes play downhill through ponderosa, pinon and juniper. The golf is stimulating, the views breathtaking and the experience unforgettable.
Golf Digest named Paa-Ko Ridge the Best New Affordable Public Course of 2000 and the 20th spot on America’s 100 Greatest Public Courses. It was ranked by Golfweek at #27 in their 2005, Top 100 Modern Courses in America, and #30 by Golf Magazine’s, Top 100 You Can Play, in 2006–2007.
Paa-Ko Ridge Golf Club was designed by award-winning gold course architect, Ken Dye
17th Hole - The Ridge - Par 4 - 340 to 419 yards
Drive it straight between the two ponderosas. There is room right to avoid the arroyo on the left. Long hitters drive toward the right greenside bunker. A lay-up off the tee allows a line toward the fairway bunkers. The green slopes away from the right side of the fairway; the left side offers a better angle of approach.
22nd Hole - Redan - Par 3 - 170 to 228 yards
After taking in the magnificent view, you'll want to take two clubs less to reach the green on this "Redan" styled par three. A tee shot into the center of this front-right to back-left sloping green will tend to move left and quickly away, so be careful
27th Hole - Descent - Par 5 - 376 to 504 yards
Don't let the yardage cause you to over swing on the tee shot here. It's all downhill and plays much shorter than you might think. Drive it between the fairway bunkers - longer hitters should favor the right side of the opening. The approach shot is best targeted toward the left side of the left to right sloping green.
